What makes this visual fidelity all the more impressive is how smooth War Mongrels runs (bugs aside), with my 5700 XT able to pull between 135 and 144FPS with all settings maxed at 1080p. Visually War Mongrels is one of the best titles the genre has ever given us while skill icons and character portraits could be better, the world design is flawless, and character models equal and in some cases surpass those found in titles such as Shadow Tactics and Desperados 3. Yes, War Mongrels supports two-player online co-op, but some players have reported issues with certain missions/scenes requiring a player to be alone to progress however, this is believed to be not working as intended and will be addressed in a future patch. No, War Mongrels does not officially support the use of a controller however, this might change after the release of the console ports. Can I Play War Mongrels With A Controller on PC?
WAR MONGRELS RELEASE PC
War Mongrels is currently only available on PC (Epic Game Store & Steam), but console ports are under development and are expected to release in 2022, but the developers have warned that console ports will “take longer than you think”, and all future content is on hold until that time. Many in the community at unhappy at losing progress multiple times over the course of a few days, and I do not blame them, time is too short, and there are too many good games available in 2021 to replay the same content repeatedly due to data loss and game-breaking bugs. Since the release we get our **** together and fixing anything you people report (much more than that, actually), the game will be patched over and over again, until everyone is happy…Įditor’s Comment: While the developers have released a flurry of hotfixes, most of these patches require players to restart chapters over.

We failed to drive this title through bigger test runs properly and we’re really sorry for that. It’s a very complex project, especially for our small team of 20 people, many things get to the surface only when ~1000 people start playing the game. We get a lot of bashing for the game being buggy as hell and I guess it’s well-deserved.
WAR MONGRELS RELEASE PATCH
To their credit, the developers have been very open about the sorry state of the game and have apologized to the community and assured them they would continue to patch War Mongrels till everyone is happy. While I know these issues and others will be addressed in short order, the damage to War Mongrel’s reputation is already starting to take its toll, with 43% of all Steam reviews being negative and a substantial amount of positive reviews discussing how buggy it is. I have nothing against Destructive Creations, but the number of save game corruption and game-breaking bugs in version 1.0 is just not acceptable in 2021, especially for a title that bypassed Steam/Epic Game Store Early Access and launched as a finished product. While the developers have addressed many of these issues, lingering issues persist as of November 1st 2021, including a bug that disables the player’s ability to save the game, something that is critical to the enjoyment of real-time tactic games such as War Mongrel and Desperados. Unfortunately, War Mongrels has suffered from a slew of game-breaking/save game issues since its release on October 19th.
WAR MONGRELS RELEASE FULL
War Mongrels in a polished state would be approaching fair value for money at $44.99, however with persistent soft locks, game-breaking bugs and save game corruption occurring almost two weeks after the launch of a full product, I feel a price point closer to $25 would offer better value for money. While they have not ruled out DLC, it will have to wait until the PC build is stable and the console ports have been released. The developers have not announced any DLC at this time, and when asked about their plans, they admitted that their current focus is on fixing bugs, and after that, the console release. The developers have estimated that it takes around 30 hours for players to complete the game however, with only 12 missions, experienced gamers and Desperado veterans will likely complete it in substantially less time. War Mongrels retails for $44.99 and supports regional pricing where available.
